Filet Mesh (filet)
filet mesh is called the same thing in US and UK patterns, and hougan-ami in Japanese ones. Written as filet in patterns.
A regular grid of open and filled squares built from double crochets and chain spaces, used to draw images and lettering in crochet.
The Japanese name 方眼編み (hougan-ami) literally means "grid knitting".
