US to UK crochet terms
US and UK crochet patterns use the same words for different stitches. This is the table that stops a project going wrong on row one. Highlighted rows are the dangerous ones.
How to tell which convention a pattern uses
If the pattern contains the abbreviation sc anywhere, it is almost certainly US.
If it uses tr heavily but never sc, it is almost certainly UK. Most UK
designers now state the convention at the top; older and free patterns often do not.
