Magic Ring (MR)
magic ring is called the same thing in US and UK patterns, and wa no tsukurime in Japanese ones. Written as MR in patterns.
An adjustable loop worked into and then pulled closed, leaving no hole at the centre of a circular piece.
The Japanese name 輪の作り目 (wa no tsukurime) literally means "ring foundation stitch".

Watch out for
Also called an adjustable ring or magic circle. Japanese patterns show it as a loose open circle at the chart centre with the first round of stitches radiating from it.
