Front Post Double Crochet (FPdc)
In a US pattern this is called front post double crochet (FPdc). In a UK pattern the same stitch is called front post treble (FPtr). Same stitch, different name — check which country wrote your pattern before you start.
Worked around the vertical post of the stitch below rather than into its top, pulling that stitch forward to create a raised rib.
The Japanese name 表引き上げ長編み (omote-hikiage-naga-ami) literally means "front pulled-up long knitting".

Watch out for
The Japanese symbol adds a small hook to the base of the standard symbol, curving forward for 表 (front) and backward for 裏 (back).
